Canada in the Making is a 2-part course. Part 1 is made up of 3 Modules with 4 Lessons each.
In Part 1, we will trace the development of events in the Maritime Provinces that shaped the making of Canada.
This looks back to the 1600's, from the landing of the French in Acadia to the formation of the British Maritime colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI. Then it looks at the events that shaped the Maritime Colonies up until Confederation when they became Provinces. It also examines the contributions made to the Confederation Conferences by the 4 Christian Fathers of Confederation from the Maritime Colonies.
Module 1 looks at Canada from the time the Europeans landed in Acadia until the area was divided into British colonies.
Module 2 looks at the waves of settlers into the area at the formation of British colonies, and the entry of these colonies into Confederation.
Module 3 looks at the 4 Christian Fathers of Confederation and the part they played in bringing Canada into a Dominion.
Part 2, which is being developed, will trace the development of events that shaped Ontario and Quebec, from the landing of the French in New France, to the formation of Ontario and Quebec, and the contributions made to the Confederation Conferences by the 6 Christian Fathers of Confederation.
I have been a teacher since 1978, first in the West Indies then in Canada in different capacities.
I have been teaching this content on Canadian History for the past 7 years. I have also scheduled and operated tours of Ottawa.
I am excited share my research with you.
